The One O'Clock Blog - Album of the Year (so far...)

Went to see Blur at Goldsmith's College last night, and traveled back to Scotland through the night. Two trains and two buses brought me back to Anstruther at 9.30am. I spent a good few hours in a daze, deprived of sleep and tea.

Luckily, i had some new music to listen to, to keep me awake. Norman Records had delivered my order of discount vinyl ... and among the pile of goodies, was this double-LP. It's by The Field, and it's called 'Yesterday and Today'. And my God, it is very good. Best thing i've heard all year, at any rate.

I don't know how to describe it, really ... it's a bit like, er, ambient-house meets psyche-trance? Are those even genres? I don't know what i'm talking about. Whatever, there's some beautiful pulsing melodies in this record. If you buy it on vinyl, it comes with a free CD of all the tracks. How lovely.
