Went to see Blur at Goldsmith's College last night, and traveled back to Scotland through the night. Two trains and two buses brought me back to Anstruther at 9.30am. I spent a good few hours in a daze, deprived of sleep and tea.Luckily, i had some new music to listen to, to keep me awake. Norman Records had delivered my order of discount vinyl ... and among the pile of goodies, was this double-LP. It's by The Field, and it's called 'Yesterday and Today'. And my God, it is very good. Best thing i've heard all year, at any rate.
I don't know how to describe it, really ... it's a bit like, er, ambient-house meets psyche-trance? Are those even genres? I don't know what i'm talking about. Whatever, there's some beautiful pulsing melodies in this record. If you buy it on vinyl, it comes with a free CD of all the tracks. How lovely.
